Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today:

At Dashwood Academy Prep, we believe exceptional education transforms lives. Launching in 2026, we will operate as an enrichment program that provides support, tutoring, coaching and mentoring—while families enroll independently in fully accredited online schools for official records. This gives students the best of both worlds: state-recognized diplomas and the transformative power of in-person educational support.

Our innovative model combines rigorous academics with practical skills, delivered in small cohorts where every student is known, challenged, and supported.

Our Unique Enrichment Model:

Through our innovative structure, parents enroll their children independently in Washington Connections Academy—a fully accredited online public school through Goldendale School District—or another approved accredited program of their choice. This ensures official transcripts, state-recognized diplomas, and transferable credits. We are not formally partnered with any online platform at this time.

Preferred Online Program Options (No Formal Partnerships)
Dashwood Academy Prep is an independent enrichment program. We are not partnered or affiliated with any online school. Families enroll separately in an accredited online provider for official records and transcripts.

While families may choose any accredited online program that meets Washington State requirements, the following options tend to align best with our schedule and academic model:

  • Outschool

  • Washington Connections Academy (WACA)

  • K12 / Stride-powered programs

These programs share structures that make coordination smoother for families, but there are no formal agreements or partnerships in place.

All accreditation at this time comes from the alternative accredited program families choose. Dashwood does not claim to be partnered or independently accredited at this time. Updates available often!

Students attend Dashwood Academy Prep for on-site enrichment: tutoring, coaching, hands-on learning, and the personalized support that makes education meaningful. We provide what online learning alone cannot—face-to-face teaching, peer interaction, laboratory sciences, Socratic discussions, and real community.

This dual approach gives families the best of both worlds: full accreditation through their chosen online program and transformative in-person education at Dashwood.

Academic Programs Meeting Washington State Standards:

All official coursework, records, and state testing are managed by the family's accredited online program (such as Washington Connections Academy through Goldendale School District). Dashwood provides enrichment instruction and academic support aligned to Washington State standards. Parents/guardians serve as learning coaches and are responsible for their child's academic success in partnership with both programs.

Dashwood students complete all Washington State required coursework through collaborative support and mentoring that exceeds minimum requirements:

  • English Language Arts: 4 years meeting state standards through literature, composition, research, and communication

  • Mathematics: Through Algebra II minimum, with most students reaching Pre-Calculus or Calculus

  • Laboratory Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics with hands-on experimentation

  • Social Studies: U.S. History, World History, Contemporary World Problems, Civics, and Government

  • World Languages: Latin foundations plus modern language options

  • Arts & Electives: Visual arts, performing arts, music, and career pathways

  • Health & Fitness: Physical education and wellness education

State Testing Excellence:

All students participate in required Washington State assessments through their chosen online platform:

  • Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA)

  • Pathway assessments for graduation

Important Note: Dashwood does not offer independent accreditation. Parents register independently through accredited programs while we establish our program. We do not claim to be independently accredited or partnered at this time.

Our continuous assessment model ensures students are prepared for state testing while developing deep understanding that goes far beyond test requirements. We track progress alongside families, not just at test time. State assessments are administered by the family's chosen online program; Dashwood provides preparation and coaching.

Our Foundation:

Inspired by successful educational models nationwide—from the high expectations of leading charter networks to the excellence of international preparatory schools—we've created something uniquely ours. Dashwood adapts proven methods while remaining independent and community-rooted.

We draw thoughtful inspiration from movements that have transformed education: the leadership development approach of organizations like Teach For America, the global standards of institutions like Nord Anglia, the high-expectations culture of successful charter networks. Yet we remain fully independent, adapting what works for Moses Lake families.

Academic Excellence Without Compromise:

Every student masters core subjects through proven instructional methods. Every student masters core subjects through proven instructional methods—from Shakespeare to practical life skills such as sewing and cooking. Constitutional studies paired with financial literacy. Latin foundations building vocabulary power next to other languages. Mathematics that matters for both advanced study and everyday life. We don't choose between rigor and relevance—we deliver both.

Our students engage with primary texts, conduct laboratory experiments, debate ideas, and create original work. They develop the intellectual habits that distinguish educated individuals while gaining practical competencies for immediate application.

The Dashwood Academic Experience:

  • Literature & Language:
From ancient epics to contemporary voices, students read widely and deeply. Every major essay begins with handwritten drafts, developing careful thinking before digital revision. Students master grammar, rhetoric, and the power of language to shape thought.

  • Mathematical Thinking:
Beyond formulas and procedures, students understand the why behind the what. Problem-solving, logical reasoning, and quantitative literacy prepare students for any path—whether calculating drug dosages in nursing or designing buildings in architecture.

  • Scientific Investigation:
Real experiments, real data, real discovery. Students don't just read about science—they do science. Laboratory work, field studies, and research projects build scientific literacy essential for informed citizenship.

  • Historical Understanding:
Primary sources, multiple perspectives, connections to present. Students examine evidence, evaluate arguments, and understand how past shapes present. Constitutional knowledge, civic engagement, and global awareness create active citizens.

  • Languages & Communication:
Latin builds vocabulary and analytical thinking. Modern languages open global doors. Professional communication—emails, presentations, interviews—ensures real-world readiness.

  • Character Through Action:

  • Character isn't taught through lectures—it's developed through experience. Our 30-hour annual service requirement for students AND parents builds community connections and civic responsibility. The Student Honor Court maintains standards through peer accountability. The House system creates belonging and healthy competition. Leadership opportunities at every level ensure growth for all.

  • The House System: Belonging Guaranteed:

  • Five houses create families within our program. Houses compete academically, in service, in spirit. Older students mentor younger. Every student belongs. Points accumulate toward the annual House Cup, but competition builds community rather than dividing it. More info can be found under “The House System: Belonging and Leadership” here on our website.

Multiple Pathways to SUCCESS:

Success looks different for every student. We prepare young people for:

  • University Path: Rigorous academics, SAT/ACT preparation, application support, campus visits

  • Community College: Dual enrollment opportunities, career pathway planning, transfer preparation

  • Technical Training: Hands-on skill development, certification preparation, apprenticeship connections

  • Military Service: Leadership development, ASVAB preparation, physical fitness, discipline

  • Direct Employment: Professional skills, interview preparation, resume building, networking

  • Entrepreneurship: Business basics, financial literacy, innovation mindset

Every path receives respect and support. A future electrician deserves the same excellent education as a future engineer.

Real Skills for Real Life:

While maintaining academic rigor, we ensure practical preparation:

  • Financial literacy including budgeting, taxes, investments

  • Professional communication and workplace etiquette

  • Nutritional knowledge and food systems

  • Technology competence and digital citizenship

  • Health and wellness foundations

  • Career exploration and planning

Cultural capital matters for success in any path.

  • Deep Forest Green: Strength through roots

  • Navy: Tradition and stability

  • Pearl White: Purity of purpose

Why Moses Lake Needs Dashwood:

Our community deserves educational options matching our aspirations. Families seeking more — more rigor, more support, more opportunity — deserve access regardless of income or background. Of course our Founding Families are our debut cohorts and our test group.

We prove that geography doesn't determine destiny. That every student can achieve excellence with the right support. That communities can create the education their children deserve.

For Founding Families:

Our founding cohort launched in September 2025 and is currently underway. This exclusive opportunity is only for FOUNDING FAMILIES who are co-creators, builders, and FOUNDERS—dedicated families working together to develop this program from the ground up. Your input shapes policies. Your participation creates culture. Your success proves the model. This collaborative pilot requires commitment and shared responsibility from all founding families.

Founding family enrollment is closed. Broader enrollment opens with our 2026 launch as an enrichment program!

Important Program Information

Dashwood Academy Prep operates as an educational enrichment program providing comprehensive optional daily instruction and support. Students receive official transcripts and accredited diplomas through enrollment in Washington Connections Academy, a fully accredited public online school through Goldendale School District. Our goal is to offer academic support aligned to Washington State Standards. This is our choice program but we are not currently partnered. We do hope to in the future. Parents may choose any accredited program that meets their needs. This happens to be the one voted on and which is the most familiar to the current founding cohort.

We are an independent organization with no formal affiliation with Teach For America, Nord Anglia Education, or other educational institutions referenced as inspirational models for our program design. These organizations are mentioned solely to illustrate pedagogical approaches that inform our educational philosophy.

All Washington State graduation requirements, standardized assessments, and official academic records are managed through Washington Connections Academy or choice program. Dashwood Academy Prep provides the enrichment activities and personalized support that brings education to life.

Families participating in our program maintain responsibility for their child's enrollment in Washington Connections Academy or choice program while benefiting from our educational services.
